What happened to the Menorah – the golden lampstand that once graced the Mosaic Tabernacle and the Temple of King Solomon? Can we trace its history?
According to Edward Gibbon, in his monumental work on “The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,” the menorah, taken from Herod’s Temple by the Romans in A.D. 70, now lies at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea somewhere between Rome and Carthage. Was it the original or a later copy of the Jewish menorah? There are strange and bizarre stories about the servant lamp – the fourth lamp in the center of the menorah. Do these tales hold a special message from God? Perhaps the legends about the servant lamp offer an important prophetic teaching for us today!
Watch this very informing commentary video as J.R. Church and Gary discuss the Mystery of the Menorah. This DVD goes great with the book, The Mystery of the Menorah, and is a good way to become more educated on what the Bible has to say about the meaning of the Menorah.
