Today (Wednesday), Hamas held a rally under the title of ‘the victory in the battle over the Al-Aqsa mosque’ in Gaza. Units of the military wing marched in the streets of Gaza in a show of support and solidarity with the Temple Mount incidents.
In addition, the terrorist organization called upon Palestinians in the West Bank to take part in Friday’s demonstrations in order to “oppose Israel’s attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to respond to the current events in order to deter Israel from continuing the violations against our people and our holy places.”
During the night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered that every visitor to the Temple Mount be checked individually using a hand-held metal detector. The White House issued a statement praising Israel’s decision to remove the new security measures installed on Temple Mount.
Instead of the metal detectors and cameras, fences have been set up to assure the worshipers enter in lines and allow for easier supervision. The Security Cabinet also decided that the Israel Police will increase reinforcements until the new plan is in place, for which a budget of 100 million shekels (28 million dollars) has been issued.
Earlier today, the European Union’s top court ruled to keep Hamas on the list of terrorist organizations, referring the case back to a lower court.
