The communists, anti-fascists, neo-nazi, left-wing group, Antifa threatened to riot, loot, and assault people at the 82nd Avenue of the Roses Parade, scheduled for this Saturday. This parade was being held in Portland, OR and hosted by the Multnomah County Republicans. The festival people decided to cancel the entire weekend of activities, due to the threats of violence by the leftist group.
Antifa, which stands for “anti-fascist action,” is a network of loosely affiliated far-left anarchist and communist groups that orchestrate violent protests and attacks on populists, conservatives, and anyone else its members deem to be “fascists” or “Nazis.”
The Antifa group promised to rush the parade and drag away the Republicans.
“We will have two hundred or more people rush into the parade into the middle and drag and push those people out as we will not give one inch to groups who espouse hatred toward LGBT, immigrants, people of color or others. In case the message was not clear to you this is a sanctuary city and state and we will not allow these people to spread their views in East Portland. You have seen how much power we have downtown and that the police cannot stop us from shutting down roads so please consider your decision wisely.”
The Oregon Republican Party released this statement after the festival was cancelled.
The organizers of the annual Avenue of Roses Parade have received an e-mail threat from “firstname.lastname@example.org” warning that unless the parade organizers revoke the registration of the Multnomah County Republican Party in this year’s parade (set for this Saturday, April 29th), the group will send “two hundred or more people rush into the parade into the middle and drag and push those people out”. The group brags that “You have seen how much power we have downtown and that the police cannot stop us”.
The Multnomah County Republican Party (MCRP) has for many years participated in the Parade, and calls upon the Mayor, the Police Chief, and the District Attorney to take action against this criminal conspiracy to commit crimes of riot and disorderly conduct in violation of Oregon law. “Under former Mayor Charlie Hales,” said James Buchal, MCRP Chair, “the City allowed this cancer of lawlessness to grow to the point where its leaders are now bragging, like some sort of comic book characters, that ‘the police cannot stop us’. This is no laughing matter. The participation of political parties in public events like the Parade is not only an American tradition, but also reflects the most fundamental constitutional rights of free speech and freedom of assembly.”
“The road to fascism begins with armed gangs of thugs using violence to shut down opposing points of view. The question now is whether the City of Portland will be complicit in such conduct. We hope the City’s new leadership has the courage to respond to these threats appropriately.”
Anti-fascists used to be referred to as Antis, but they didn’t have any organized image, just lefties in normal clothing. The group Antifa, as we know it now, with the black clothing, masks, flags, etc., developed in Europe in the 1980s from a revived Antifaschistische Aktion, which was originally a 1930s German anti-fascist organization, and which Antifa is short for. Antifa all over the world use the same style of flags.
It now has active cells across the world, including in Germany, the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Czechia, and France.
On April 15th, a pro-Trump, pro-free-speech rally at University of California, Berkeley, descended into violent mayhem after radical far-leftists, members of the organization Antifa, began to attack the peacefully assembled crowd.
“Anyone who tries to hold any sort of right-wing event literally gets beat up by militant communists in the street,” said independent journalist Lauren Southern, who was present at one of the pro-Trump Berkeley rallies, in a video taken immediately following the violence.
The Trump supporters and free speech activists — acting fully in self-defense — were able to hold their ground and drive back their Antifa attackers. In response Antifa members have only vowed to intensify their violence.
The Department of State, through U.S. Code Title 22, Chapter 38, defines terrorism as “premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents.”
Antifa increasingly could plausibly fit that definition.
The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”
Antifa could also reasonably meet those conditions.
The U.S. Department of Defense defines terrorism as “the unlawful use of violence or threat of violence to instill fear and coerce governments or societies” and notes that terrorism “is often motivated by religious, political, or other ideological beliefs and committed in the pursuit of goals that are usually political.”
Yes, Antifa fits that definition, too.
This is another result of taking prayer out of our schools and God out of the lives of our youth.
Sad, very sad!
