Syria, Russia and Iran claim that the American attack crossed their red lines. Assad responded for the first time and stated that the US failed to achieve its goals.
Iran, Russia and Syria published a joint declaration today in response to the US attacking targets in Syria. According to Iran and Russia, the attack crossed their red lines.
They stressed that from now on, they will respond to every American action and explicitly threatened US President Donald Trump, who clarified that he is ready to attack Syria again.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stated that the US failed to obtain the goals that it sought by engaging in an act of aggression.
According to Assad, the US is attempting to boost the morale of terrorists. Assad added that Syria is determined to defeat terrorism.
US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told CNN that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad needs to step down in order to allow a political solution in the country to be reached. “There’s not any sort of option where a political solution is going to happen with Assad at the head of the regime,” she said.
Haley added in the interview, which will be aired in full later on today (Sunday), that one of US President Donald Trump’s main goals during his term is to remove Assad from power. In addition, Haley said that Trump will try to defeat ISIS and prevent Iran from influencing the situation in Syria.e
On Saturday, JerusalemOnline reported that Haley told the UN Security Council that her country is prepared to take additional steps against Assad’s regime. “The international community has repeatedly expressed its outrage,” she said. “On Tuesday, the Assad regime launched yet another chemical attack on civilians, murdering innocent men, women and children in the most gruesome way. Assad did this because he thought he could get away with it. He thought he could get away with it because he knew Russia would have his back. That changed last night.”
“The United States took a very measured step last night,” she continued. “We are prepared to do more but we hope that will not be necessary. It is time for all civilized nations to stop the horrors that are taking place in Syria and demand a political solution.”
